Well i knew the day would come. Finally, after nearly two years of use, Charlee has grown out of her little cow boots. The last few times she has worn them she has complained about them being too tight and ouch, so we decided we should get her a new pair. I'm a little sad to see them go, they have done us well those boots. First Koby wore them, and Charlee has practically lived in them for the past twelve months especially.
But i took her down to Cotton On kids and let her pick out a new pair. I was very happy when she was instantly drawn to the polka dot ones (that's my girl), and it was love at first site. She insisted on walking around the shops with them. And when we picked up Koby from kinder, she proudly announced to anyone who would listen that these were her new boots.
We got our tax return today too (yippee) so i booked myself in to visit the optometrist for the first time in about 10 years (blush). My eyes have gone down hill quite a bit in the last two years, and i have noticed that i am getting a lot more headaches, so i'm gonna get my eyes tested again. And i also need to desperately update my glasses, they are very dag-o-rama. So i am heading down there on Friday.
Melissa received the RAK i sent to her from when she won my little 50000th post raffle thingy last week. There are some pictures of what i sent up in her blog, sill me forgot to take a photo before i posted it (and i call myself a photographer sheesh).
On Sunday Dannii's girls had their first birthday party. We were there to help celebrate. The monkeys were a big hit. Here are the birthday girls enjoying their first ever piece of birthday cake.
Today is their official birthday though. We are off to see them again this afternoon. That's all i really have to talk about right now. So I'll leave it at that.
I have just noticed that my blog hit counter is almost at 50 000, so i thought i would do a little raffle to thank everyone for taking the time to care what goes on in my little life. Everyone who leaves a comment on here will be in the running to win a little something. I'll give you until the hit counter reaches 50 000 (it's currently on 48 944, so it should only take a day or two) or Thursday, whatever comes first. And i will get charlee to pull one of your names out of a hat.
It's also a blatant excuse to see how many comments i can get for one post LOL, so you lurkers better poke your heads out...
I've had a few people request that i pass on my "big news" but technically since it's not August yet i can't say anything. I have to wait a few more days i'm afraid lol. But i have now got yet more news of the scrapping variety, but alas i can't tell you that either so i'm really no good to you at all PMSL...
Went thrifting today. First time in aaagggess...and i was kinda disappointed. Nothing really jumped out at me and made me squeal. You know when you find one of those little gems that you feel like snatching up and rushing to the counter to buy before anyone else steals it from you? yeah well i didn't get that today... i did however managed to walk away with a bag full of stuff anyway tee hee. All for the grand total of $5.50.
Some old buckles, lace and some sweet fabric that will be turned into a twirly skirt i think, and an old sheet and some purple linen type fabric.
Some random knit and stretch fabrics that I'm a little obsessed with lately. Some old books and a crochet pattern book, even though i have NFI how to crochet, i thought it was sweet and might come in handy for something one day. Oh and that's just me because i wanted to have three photos in a row like the top one.
My cat likes to sleep in plastic bags....
is that normal??? I can't say how many times i have walked past and kicked a bag out of the way only to have her jump out of it. The kids have also been known to drag her around in them when they find her. She doesn't seem to worry, but the thought of suffocation has crossed my mind a few times... strange.
I am totally loving the singer Regina Spektor. Her song Fidelity is just adorable. I saw her on Rove last night and she sang it live. Gorgeous. Luke thinks she is weird but i love it. It's very me. I love depressing melancholy songs even though i am SO the opposite of that. Why is that i wonder? I always get sucked into sad depressing break up songs, that really don't relate to my life in anyway. I'm not depressed or sad or anywhere near about to break up with someone. Must be some emotional kick-back from my youth.
Hmmm... that's enough for today i think. Off to work on some secret stuff...
...that i wanted to bring your attention to. I was made aware of this wonderful organization a few months ago when they were just in the planning stage. However they have now recently been launched as a fully fledged foundation which i am very proud to be a part of.
The Australian Charity Of Child Photographers.
Please go and visit them and have a read about what they offer. And if you know of a family that could benefit from their services, anywhere in Australia, then please feel free to forward the information to them.
Two posts in one day, I'm on a roll LOL... I've been tagged by Kris, i need to answer these questions
1. Four of my favorite jobs
2. Four of my favorite local places
3. Four of my favorite foods
4. Four of my favorite international places
5. Four name's of people I am tagging
so here goes
1. Four of my favorite jobs
Well to be honest i have never really had a real job PMSL... My current job as a photographer would definitely be highest on the list but prior to that i did a short and unsuccessful stint as a Party Plan saleswoman. I have never been employed by anyone else to do anything...how slack does that make me sound?!?! Honestly though, i left high school and went right into an Interior design course. I did a year of that then moved to a Visual art course. I then got pregnant, engaged, turned 21, had a baby, moved out of home and got married all within 12 months (seriously!). I then returned to my visual art course part time for the remaining 3 years and became a photographer shorty after...
2. Four of my favorite local places
1. Love visiting all the little thrift shops around here. There at least 8 on my regular must visit list.
2. We have a couple of great shopping centers around here that we all traipse around at least once a week, usually on a Friday when Luke is home and we have nothing else to do.. (are you sensing a theme with these answers???)
3. Lilydale Lake is a great place to go, we head down there with the kids quite often. They have an awesome playground.
4. Melbourne CBD. I LOVE living in this city, and i honestly couldn't live anywhere else (except maybe some exotic Tuscan villa). The climate is perfect for me, (not too hot, not too cold) there is always plenty to do, the art gallery's are wonderful and the gardens are beautiful.
3. Four of my favorite foods
1. Cheese burgers (from macca's or hungry jacks...mmmm)
2. KFC *wipes drool off chin* my no.1 weakness...
3. seafood...love prawns
4. sherbet fizzoes...you know those little colored lemon shaped lollies covered in sherbet... i could eat them non stop all day...
4. Four of my favorite international places
1. Although i have never been there i have always wanted to visit Europe. Mainly London and Italy.
2. I have been to the USA twice, i enjoyed it greatly but if i was to go back i would pick on place and stay there for longer instead of doing all the touristy things. The only city i have really wanted to visit and never have is New York.
3. New Zealand...i went their when i was 6..had a blast...wouldn't mind going back..
4. Fiji...been there when i was a kid too...all i remember was it rained for the entire second week we were there...but it was nice just the same and I'd happily go back there as well.
5. Four name's of people I am tagging
Shirls, Dee, Dannii and Bec
Been doing some random things these past few days. Nothing really worth posting about though. But today we actually got out of the house (shock horror! LOL). We went to a park with some scrapping buddies of mine for a few hours. Us mums had a good gas-bag, and the kids had a blast on the playground and chasing bubbles.
You can see a few photos here, but these are a few personal fav's.
I had a pretty bad morning yesterday. My stoop-id car ran out of petrol on the way to pick up koby from kinder. Thankfully i was actually running about 10 min early, so i had time to call my mum to run down and get him for me. And she was only about 5 min late. I had called the kinder to let them know. So anyway, i had to call the RACV to come and get me started again. The mechanic had a good chuckle at me, and got me started. He gave me enough petrol to get to the petrol station down the road, so i set off for it.
And just to top off the morning i was then pulled over by the police. At first i thought i must have been speeding, but apparently they only pulled me over because it looked like i had no cap on my petrol tank (even though i do). So i explained to them that i had in fact just run out of petrol and had to get the RACV to start me up again. Just as i was explaining this the RACV man actually drove past an honked his horn (probably laughing at me some more)... anyway, they let me go and i got petrol and made it back home again...
That night Luke and i decided at about 9pm to clean out our 6-foot fish tank we have in the sunroom because the water was beginning to smell. So we emptied it completely, washed it down, cleaned all the stones, filled it up and put our 3 gold fish back in. 2.5 hours later LOL... probably not the best thing to do at that time of night, but it had to be done. The house was beginning to smell like moldy water, and the poor fish were gasping for air. So it is all nice and sparkly.
I am going to my first in store crop on Friday night. I have no idea what i am going to scrap, but i will have to try and at least think about it before i leave so i don't drag along my entire stash of supplies. I'm getting some new photos printed up tomorrow, so that might inspire me. I have been scrapping lately, but it's been mostly DT stuff, which i can't show until the 1st.
I am also almost done stocking the store (i know i said that last week but i really mean it this time) and i aim to open it up on Monday. So make sure you come back then so you don't miss out.
So there you go, I'm fully up to date now. So I'm gonna go do something constructive.
xx
.... what's that smell???
.... oh look!!
... there's a new bicky in the tin!!! :)
and i also thought i'd share with you Charlee's rule of accessorising...
Before you walk out the door, put one more thing on...
... too cute...
Spent the morning with Dannii and her gorgeous girls. We did some chattin and scrappin. It was great fun, and for the first time in ages Koby actually behaved himself. I didn't have to leave with him kicking and screaming behind me LOL...
I did two pages, and they are up in the 2007 scrapping gallery to the left.
I am so over feeling crap... i just got over the vertigo and now i have a sore throat and i feel all tired again..
not much going on.... just plugging through a few recent photo sessions. . . gonna take it easy today i think... might lay down with the kids on the couch and watch a few Disney movies...
i have a list a mile long of the things i need/want to do, but i just can't seem to get going on them. Just to give you an idea here is some of the immediate things i need to do,
-get wet clothes out of washing machine and dry/put away.
-do the dishes.
-start making Charlee's flower girl dress (hopefully I'll get started on this today)
-type out step-by-step project for Scrapbook Creations (due by 5th April)
-sew some winter pj's for the kids. Patterns all cut out, just waiting to sew them.
-do more of my Book Of Me journal i started last week.
-finish proofing last weekends photo session and prepare CD for posting.
-prepare the rest of the Cd's from the Sydney sessions and upload next clients gallery.
-attempt to put away the three separate piles of clean washing.
-clean up my scrap/sewing space so i can actually see the floor and desk.
Koby got his hair cut last weekend. It's always such a painful experience. He is just so stubborn and when he doesn't want to do something he will not do it for anything. And he acts like this every time we have to have his hair cut. I don't know why he doesn't like it, but he doesn't. He always cries, screams, argues, yells, and is a general PITA about it. But as soon as it's over, in typical 4 year old fashion, he is fine again.
He usually has the front bit spiked up a bit, but he wouldn't let me do it this morning..
And here is Charlee with her "camera". I made it out of some cardboard and packing tape. She now insists on carrying it around taking "fotoz" of everything. Very cute. "smile mummy cwick cwick cwick". And when i ask her if i can take photos of her she says "yes fotoz, charlee take foto of mummy too" and stomps off to get her camera LOL...
Her latest saying is "bit cwazy" lol.. everything is a bit crazy. Mummy is "cwazy", daddy is "cwazy", Koby is "cwazy" and even charlee is "bit cwazy" sometimes. I picked up the top at Kmart the other day for just $5.. they were having a 20% off kids clothing sale or something. Bargain, love it. It looks like something i would make but i didn't, i just thought i should point that out LOL..
Ok, enough procrastinating. Time to tackle the washing... maybe once i get moving i won't be able to stop.
