Morning. I thought I'd come in and show off some of the things I've been doing in between photo shoots this week.
Like i mentioned the other day i have finally finished the quilt i was making for charlee. The fact that our heater has broken again was just what i needed to get stuck into it. I still want to quilt it a bit more, but it is currently being put to good use keeping my princess warm at night. I am quite happy with it, it's nice and bright and cheerful.
I have also been making some store related things that are available now. First we have some more birdies.
And Ellie
And a little dress
And also the top that i made for charlee that was too small.
This morning i came up with an ingenious plan to make a bolero for charlee out of one of my old jumpers. It probably isn't that ingenious, but i will give it a go anyway, probably not today though because it is too damn cold. Can you believe it, it is colder inside than it is outside at the moment. Ridiculous. So i am packing up the kids and moving to mums for the day to bask in the warmth of her lounge room. But before i do that i need to do a bit of a clean up, because we have a friend coming over tonight. I know he won't care if the house is a mess, but i will. Besides it might get the blood circulating and get some warmth back into my fingers.
Oh and Charlee has caught Kobys virus, so she is all snotty and blocked up now too. Which means that i am probably next.
Afternoon all, i have added some new stock to the store. Some flowers and a couple of
birdies.
Thank you all so much for your birthday wishes. We went shopping yesterday to spend a gift voucher that i was given, and i picked up some comfy tracky pants from Target (those soft velvet type fabric ones, brown), and a copy of The Davinci Code, because apparently i am pretty much the only person on the planet who hasn't read it (i am already 1/4 of the way through, and quite involved with it) and i also picked myself up a pretty new coffee mug. Just because it was pretty and i had $3 left on the voucher to spend lol.
I also got some money last night from Luke's parents, so i went down to my local scrap shop this morning and splurged on a whole heap of things from the new wild asparagus range from MME (very yummy) . I did some more scrappin last night actually. You can see them here and here.
And i am proud to say that i am currently sitting on my brand new very comfy and swish swivel chair that Luke surprised me with the other night. My other one was about to fall apart, and at least 15 years old. My bottom and back are perfectly supported now, and i look very professional. Thank you sweety *kiss*
It is Kobys birthday tomorrow, so we are all going out bowling tonight. "All" meaning, my parents, my brother & fiance, and her parents, my sister, Luke's parents and brother, and us. After they are all coming back here for coffee and cake. And the all important presents of course. But now i shall leave you with another photo of my puss, Miss Buffy, looking very sneaky and suspicious.
Yes darling, i can see you.
Well i made a few more items for the store. I requested Miss C's assistance to help me model them, but she was not in the best of moods. So i apologize for the pictures, but i think you still get the idea. (Oh and for the record, the red mark on her head was self inflicted during a particuarly nasty tanty she had at 11pm last night while refusing to go to sleep. )
"i will not ever stand up for you mummy"
"Ok i will stand for just one second, but only if i can yell at you".
"i will, absolutly never, let you look at this birdie because it is mine".
"ok, but just for one second so be quick".
...but i'll forgive her because she is beautiful.
You can get the top here,(there are two and they are both approx size 1) and the birdie here.
Warning, this post will have quite a few pictures.
Ok I'm back to show off some things I've been doing. I have been re-working my birdie design, for a few reasons actually. Not that there was really anything wrong with the old design. But i wasn't that happy with it. One thing i have noticed is that you all seem to refer to them as duckies. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not telling you off, feel free to name them whatever you like. It's all personal opinion really. But it did get me thinking that they do look more like ducks than birds, which wasn't what i originally set out to do. I also wanted to simplify the pattern a bit, to make producing them a bit quicker. So i redesigned them to look more like the birdies i use in my collages. And this is what i came up with.
Ok, honest opinions. Do they look like birds? Are they cute or creepy? Charlee recognized them as "bee-dees" as soon as she saw them which to me is a good sign. I used an old polarfleese baby blanket for the beaks because i was out of felt, but i quite like it. And i just used random scraps of fabric because they were only samples.
My favorite thing about them though. They got booty *lol*
My mum also made me these gorgeous noodle bowls.
Apparently they are seconds because the glaze isn't even. But i still like them. they are a beautiful lilac/purple color (they look more blue in these photos). The photo doesn't d
o much for them (sorry mum), but She is currently creating a bit of a line of these and various other practical pieces. I will let you know where and when they go on sale.
And i did a bit of thrifting this morning. Found this gorgeous 70's (i think it's a type of Lycra mixed with something) purple fabric.Only $3 for nearly 2 meters (it's quite wide too). I think it will either become a skirt or dress or something equally as pretty for myself or Miss C. I also finished that dress i was making for my sister, but i completely forgot to take photograph of it. I'll have to get her to take one and send it over to me.
On saturday night me and Luke went to an engagement party, where i managed to fall flat on my face not once, but twice in front of everyone. I wasn't even drinking. I just wasn't use to wearing heels and my pants were a bit too long so i kept tripping up on them. Very embarrissing. We didn't know that many people there either, so to most of them I shall forever be know as the "girl who kept falling over".
And last but not least, i managed to talk Luke into sitting for some photos with the kids. I mainly wanted them for scrapbooking purposes. Especially ones of him and Charlee for a daddy/daughter page that you can see here.
So i will leave you with some of the photos i got. So very sweet. xx
I just had to come back once more today to show off my basket of birdies. I have been working on these little fellas for a few weeks now, and i think i have finally worked out all the kinks in the pattern.
I made the two little ones at the front this afternoon buy just shrinking the pattern a bit. I actually like them better than the bigger ones, they are only about 15cm tall (the big ones are about 20cm).
They all have little jingle bells in them like Miss C's pants, so they make nice little baby toys. Especially the smaller two because they don't have beads for eyes, i embroidered them.
Oh and Miss C insists on being the first one to give each birdie a kiss too lol. I like to think of that as her seal of approval. I am considering opening up an EBay shop in the not too distant future, when i get around to making a bit of a stockpile of these little dears, as well as some jingle pants and kimonos thrown in for good measure.
So watch this space ladies and gentleman.
But now, Luke has the next two days off which means he will not let me anywhere near the computer (apparently his days off are to be spent in my company with my 100% attention on him and him only at all times). So i shall be back on Monday to fill you in on my weekend. Until then, Happy Mothers Day to all the mummy's out there
xx
OK I'm back. I made the kimono, and i am absolutely thrilled with it except for one tiny little problem...
It's about half a size too small (DOH!). It fits her, but doesn't really wrap around as much as it should, and it is a little tight under the arms and across the chest.
But not to worry, i have plenty of the material left so i shall endeavor to make another one tonight while the little ones are in bed.
As for this one, well the first person to email me can have it sorry already gone(cbremner@email2me.net). It is about a size 0 (i can give you exact measurements if you want). It is fully lined in the same material as the front, and features an oh-so-cute little brown felt birdie. i f'ed up the stitching on that a bit, but you don't really notice unless you look closely. The fabric is a vintage sheet that i picked up a couple of weeks ago. It is a really soft cotton.
The original pattern was for a size 0-3 months, so i think i did pretty well to increase it this much, but obviously not enough. Oh well.. back to the drawing board. Here's some more pics.
Well last night while i was sleeping i somehow managed to strain my neck. I have no idea how i did it ( a little too enthusiastic with the exercising yesterday maybe??) but bloody hell does it hurt. I can turn it to the left but as soon as i try to turn it to the right pain shoots up that whole side. I can't lift anything, or make any sudden movements. So i have been walking around like robot woman all day.
Which of course meant i couldn't do any cleaning (what a pity) so instead i have been working, or at least re-working my birdie design. And i think i have finally come up with something i am happy with. I decided to fluff up the wings a bit, and make the tail smaller. then i eliminated the whole knobby knee look, then took off the feet all together and made the beak out of felt. I think they are quite cute.
These two little beauties are headed for eBay. Well as soon as it decides to let me finalize the auction. Why is it every time i try to sell something i always manage to catch them on a maintenance day. so nothing works...? Every time i hit the "submit listing" button it sends me to a page telling me that it is not responding, and to wait a minuet then refresh the page. Well i have been wearing out the refresh button for the last twenty minuets and still nothing.
sigh..
ETS: ok i finally got eBay to work (five hours later*rolls eyes*) so you can see them here
